Bosses of the hit BBC crime drama Death In Paradise have taken to social media with an important announcement

Death In Paradise fans are over the moon as production bosses took to social media to announce that a fresh series has been officially greenlit.

Following the successful conclusion of its 14th outing, speculation was rife that the sun-soaked drama would be back for more gripping episodes. And now, it’s a done deal.

The bosses behind the show have revealed that cameras are rolling on the much-anticipated 15th instalment, even teasing fans with a snapshot of the iconic monochrome clapperboard sprinkled with tantalising details.

A post from the team spilled the beans: “We’re back in paradise. Filming has begun this week in Guadeloupe on the brand-new series of #DeathInParadise,” reports the Express.

Fans quickly swarmed social media to express their excitement, with one commenting: “Yay! ! Last season was so much better than it’s been in a while,” and another adding: “Cannot wait to see my fav DI!”.

Another fan added: “Woop woop so exciting can’t wait,” as a fourth agreed: “Best news today.” A fifth person shared the same sentiment: “Yay!! I can’t wait.”

Meanwhile, other fans took the time to demand that a beloved star is part of the news seasons cast, one viewer wrote: “Amazing news. Can’t wait. I miss them all (hopefully The Commissioner is back) @donbwarrington.”

“Needs @donbwarrington to be there or missing a huge talent,” stated another Death in Paradise fan.

BBC viewers are eager to know if Don Warrington will be returning to the new series after the programme ended on a cliffhanger at the end of the last series.

Don, who has played the role of Commissioner Selwyn Patterson since 2011, finally decided to leave his role in the police, with fans now worried he’s excited for good.

This is why season 15 will prove to be incredibly important for devoted fans as it’s not yet been confirmed if Don’s character will still have a role on the much-loved show after leaving his detective duties behind him.

Series 14 finale saw Selwyn Patterson offered his job back after initially being replaced but he opted to instead reject the proposal, wanting to take some time for himself and visiting his daughter Andrina.

The final scene saw him saying goodbye to Catherine Bordey, he asked her: “Promise me you will look after yourself, and them,” he added, gesturing to his ex-colleagues.

“Promise me this isn’t farewell, but au revoir,” asked the mayor as he told her: “Au revoir then, my friend,” before zipping off in a taxi.

Death in Paradise can be streamed via BBC iPlayer.
