In his second game back from an upper-body injury, it’s safe to say that Chris Kreider has reclaimed his prominent role with the New York Rangers.

Kreider missed six games as he was placed on injured reserve.

Throughout the season, Kreider’s role has dropped off a little bit, but Peter Laviolette still trusts the veteran forward.

Laviolette eased Kreider back in by playing him 15:12 minutes in his return against the Ottawa Senators. One day later against the Blue Jackets, Kreider recorded 17:03 minutes.

The 33-year-old also earned a spot on the Rangers’ first power play unit, replacing Vincent Trocheck.

“We did switch it up today, put Chris back in front,” Laviolette said. “I thought he did a good job. He got a couple of tips and rebounds and redirects inside of that.”

Kreider also scored a shorthanded goal with his magic alongside Mika Zibanejad on full display.

While Kreider’s production has not been the same as of late, it’s clear that he’s still an impactful player who plays hard at both ends of the ice and does all the little things the right way.

If the Rangers are to make the playoffs, Kreider will have to continue to step up his game and be an influential part of the team.
