The villain has been bringing the drama ever since he waltzed back into his sister Carla Connor’s life last month but the end appears to be near
Coronation Street fans were left sharing the same though as the mid-week trip to Weatherfield ended on a dramatic Rob Donovan-shaped cliff-hanger.
The villain has been bringing the drama ever since he waltzed back into his sister Carla Connor’s life last month as her life was hanging in the balance.
As fans know, after falling ill and discovering she needed another kidney transplant having contracted sepsis, despite being worried for her future, Carla made it clear she doesn’t want her family to be donors.
However, with Carla’s health in decline, her nephew Bobby was seen getting his dad Rob to help. He initially refused but later had change of heart as he made out to his son he was a changed man.
Carla initially refused her brother’s help but after seeing him for herself, she changed her mind and agreed for him to be tested, before it was later confirmed he was a match.
But Rob’s offer to be a donor wasn’t out of the goodness of his heart, it was all part of the convicted murderer’s ploy as he planned, with the help of prison officer Mandy, who thought she was in a relationship with the prisoner, to escape jail.
While his plan didn’t take the course he expected, Rob did get himself free, despite Carla thinking she had killed him following a confrontation in an abandoned warehouse.
He’s since been on the run and it was during Tuesday night’s (March 18) Corrie that Tracy Barlow was stunned to be confronted by her former fiancé in the ginnel, before the convicted murder cheekily asked if she was going to invite him in.
Once inside, he managed to convince Tracy to help harbour him while he waited for his contact to sort him out with a fake passport. But at the end of the episode, Rob was shown to have a gun.
In Wednesday’s (March 19) trip to Weatherfield, Rob further proved he isn’t in a good way when his infected surgical wound began to bleed. When Tracy noticed he was bleeding, she was horrified but Rob refused to let her ring emergency services.
However, Tracy stood her ground and refused to stand by and watch him succumb to his injuries. But as she reached for her phone, he pulled his gun on her, insisting that he really would shoot her if she called an ambulance.
She agreed as Rob made it clear he wasn’t afraid to use the weapon and still threatening her, he ordered her to phone his sister as he wanted to see her.
It comes after Corrie confirmed that an armed siege will take place in the long-running drama next week, with Carla having made her way to No.1.
While it’s not clear who gets hurt, it has been revealed that a gunshot rings out and the victim’s loved ones will later have an anxious wait in the hospital. But could it be Rob he meets a shocking end, either by his own gun or by his lack of surgery after care?
Those eager to find out what happens next will have to wait as a shake-up to ITV’s schedule has meant that this week’s episodes have already aired, and the next isn’t going to be on-screens until next Tuesday (March 25). And Corrie fans were quick to comment
