‘I felt like I was an object there for them’
Carnelos says the men were hanging out in Formenton’s and McLeod’s hotel room, some on a bed, some by the television or a desk area, and E.M. agrees.
“You weren’t the whole focus of the room,” Carnelos suggests, saying the men were celebrating their world junior hockey victory and were just having side conversations.
“I don’t know, I felt like I was,” E.M. replies. “I felt like I was an object there for them. No one was speaking to me — they were just speaking to each other. I felt like I was there for their entertainment.”
Carnelos says E.M. “wanted to be the focus of the room, but these boys were having their own conversations.”
E.M. says she disagrees and didn’t want to be the “centre of attention.”
“I felt like I was watching everything unfold, like I was watching myself. It felt like they were talking about what they wanted to do to me, what they wanted me to do.”
