The last sparkles of New Year’s fireworks were fading from the Saskatoon skies when the city’s first baby of 2025 was born.

Atticus Marcien Harper Vandale was born at 12:19 a.m. on Jan. 1 at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, weighing 6 pounds and 13 ounces.

His parents Angelique Zimmerman and Glen Vandale — are from Saskatoon.

According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, “everyone is doing well,” as little Atticus joins an exclusive club of New Year’s babies born in Saskatoon.

Dawsyn Ivy Fornwald was born on New Year’s Day at 1:28 a.m. at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, officially making her Saskatoon’s first baby of 2024. She weighed nine pounds.

Last year, Dawsyn Ivy Fornwald was born well after midnight. Weighing nine pounds, she arrived at 1:28 a.m. to parents JoAnn and Brady Fornwald.

In 2023, Elliott Quinn Hubbard was born at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital a mere 30 seconds after the clock struck midnight to parents Ashley Downing and William Hubbard.

In 2022, Hudson Raphael Lynn was born at 12:17 a.m. to parents Krystal and Chris Lynn.

In 2021, the new arrival came even later than this year’s new year’s baby. John David William Klane was born to Ehren Klane and Megan Hanson at 1:38 a.m.

In 2020, Lincoln Joseph Guinan was born to Eliann and Shaun Guinan at 12:13 a.m.

The first baby of 2019, Ayla Juliette Mann, was born at Royal University Hospital at 1:55 a.m., the latest arrival in recent memory. Ayla was the couple’s second child to be born on New Year’s Day after son Emery was the second baby of the year in 2017.

In 2018, Paisley Barfield arrived at 12:04 a.m. And in 2017, Lachlan Russell was born at 12:08 a.m.
