Scunthorpe is the last plant left making steel from iron ore instead of recycling scrap.

The need for steel in contsruction and major defence projects underlines the importance of the plant. Not least in Scunthorpe itself, like Corby, Consett, Motherwell and Redcar defined by its steelmaking past.
